The Power of Humor June 3, 2007

With great powers comes great responsibilities. – Ben Parker
A comedian is like a Jedi with mind controlling powers. In the right hands, this power can temporarily heal people’s sadness… making them forget the worries of this world….
But a comedian who embraced the “darkside” (quote and unquote) is much worst than a RAPIST. What he does is… he morphs into a Fat Old Geezer… approaches a beautiful sexy woman… do his Jedi talk… and in the morning the woman wakes up SMILING… asking her Lolo look-alike… “sa susunod John… magsumikap ka ha?”

I’m sorry if the above is not funny for Filipino people who are in their early 20’s ‘coz you ain’t gonna get it. Halata na yata edad ko ^_^
Anyway, I think that most people are fascinated with the X-men, Spider-man, Elastic-man and Pacman. All have great powers… with these powers they can do awesome things… like mind reading, wall crawling, arm stretching and Jaw breaking (ouch!).

But in reality, those things are impossible (except for Pacman of course). Yet in reality we can develop powers that can put us ahead in life. Powers coming from leadership, positive thinking, critical thinking, public speaking, etc. Even mundane skills like cooking can tame a wild man… if you are a good cook that is.
Humor is a skill that is powerful. It is not only used by comedians but people who are influential like politicians and preachers. Even Bro. Eli uses humor in his talk, which is why he has a different kind of charisma that is loved amongst his brethren.
Each comedian has their own comic persona wherein their point of view (POV) is manifested. For example Bob Ong the writer of ‘ABNKKBSNPL ako” and “Ang paboritong aklat ni Hudas” has a comic persona of a 30 year old media writer that talks about the past and the present in a funny and somewhat with a little spiritual side in it.
But when a preacher like Bro. Eli uses humor, it just captivates his listeners. I can describe his comic persona to be as a “frank and bold preacher”. That is why besides his rightly dividing the word of truth… his humor gives him a different kind of charisma as compared to other preachers in this time. His listener loves it! But not all… ‘coz through the use of humor, in his punchlines, he exposes the false doctrines of many religions.
Here’s the video (i’ll try to insert it sometime…)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Sa_lyrdqHw
With that said, moving forward (este)… next time, I’ll try not to be too “serious” on my succeeding posts and try to insert some humor in them.
Humor is a skill that is powerful. It can be developed. It should be acquired by people who are into writing, blogging, public speaking, in the business world or just about anyone who wants to add a little spice in their lives… (I’m not talking about having two or more wives )… PERVERTS! J

Sa Anumang Paraan… Hindi Kita Pababayaan May 21, 2007

What the mind conceives and believes it will achieve.
You can do it if you Believe you can.
Failing to Plan is Planning to Fail.
Begin with the End in Mind.
Do what you love and love what you do.
Do it right the first time.
Tama iyon, kaya nga sabi ng kawikaang tunay “Seek and you shall find, Knock and you shall be opened, ask and it shall be given unto you”.
– Hebreo 13:5

Atheists trying to disprove the existence of God, caught with their own foolish reasonings.
First argument: Order was created without Intelligence.
Counter argument: The Contest.
Exposed: Atheist’s foolishness.
Confused People: There is one God, therefore Jesus is God the Father and God the Father is Jesus.

Bible Contradictions? Exodus 20:13 and Luke 19:27 April 16, 2007

A pleasant day to all! We shall continue examining the verses of the Bible to find out if they contain contradictions. The verses that we are featuring today are Exodus 20:13 and Luke 19:27.
In Exodus 20:13, God says—
“Thou shalt not kill.”
Very clearly, in this particular verse God is prohibiting us to kill. But in one of the books of the New Testament, Luke 19:27, our Lord Jesus says that—
“But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me.”
In other words, in this verse, our Lord Jesus Christ is commanding that His enemies be slain before Him.
Why Exodus 20:13 says, “Thou shalt not kill,” while Luke 19:27 says, “… slay them before me …”? Do these verses contradict each other? Which between the two verses is correct?
Let us ask our teachers, our pastors, our ministers, and our priests. Let us also ask those who claim to be evangelists and apostles. Let us ask for their answer. But should they fail to give you any, let us ask Brother Eli Soriano.
To those who wants an easy way out of this question… yes this is a parable. But even it is a parable, that does not make verse 27 meaningless does it? Try harder. Be not those who just hear parables and not understand
He said, “The knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of God has been given to you, but to others I speak in parables, so that, ” ‘though seeing, they may not see; though hearing, they may not understand.’
Bible Contradictions? Matthew 17:1 vs. Luke 9:28 April 15, 2007

Excertp from Ang Dating Daan website
Let us read at once Matthew 17:1. It says—
“And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart.”
In this particular verse, St. Matthew was narrating that, after 6 days, our Lord Jesus Christ brought his three disciples – Peter, James, and John – up into a high mountain. In other words, from Matthew’s account, it was after six days that our Lord Jesus Christ brought His three disciples up into a mountain.
However, Luke 9:28 says—
“And it came to pass about an eight days after these sayings, He took Peter, John, and James, and went up into a mountain to pray.”
In this particular verse, St. Luke was saying that, after 8 days, our Lord Jesus Christ, together with His three disciples – Peter, John, and James – went up into a mountain to pray.
Do these verses, that we have just read, contain contradictions? Matthew said, “after six days”, while Luke said, “eight days after,” our Lord Jesus Christ brought His three disciples up into a mountain.
Are there contradictions in these verses? Let us ask our pastors, our ministers, the priests, and those who claim that they are apostles. They might know the answer. But if they couldn’t give you any answer, let us ask Bro. Eliseo Soriano and the bible will answer!

This is an excerpt from Ang Dating Daan website. Let us continue with the examination that we are making of the verses of the Bible to find out if it contains contradictions. Let us read, at once, what I John 2:7 says— “Brethren, I write no new commandment unto you, but an old commandment which ye had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which ye have heard from the beginning.” This particular verse tells us that It appears that But in I John 2:8, he said— “Again, a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true in him and in you: because the darkness is past, and the true light now shineth.” Here, in this verse, Do they contradict? Did he write them a new commandment, or did he not? Let us ask for answers and explanations from our preachers . . . pastors . . . ministers … and from those who claim to be apostles and evangelists. They might know the answer. If they couldn’t give you any answer, let us ask Brother Eli Soriano. |

Unbiblical Beliefs of the Baptist Faith (Debate Form) - Part 2 April 14, 2007

Phrase: Faith Alone Saves
Question: If I can read a verse that beside from faith there is something that Jesus taught that was necessary for salvation, will you accept that your doctrine is false?
Question <alternate>: Did Jesus say enduring to the end was necessary for salvation?
Baptist Answer: Yes/No <it doesn’t matter what he will answer, this is a lose-lose situation for him>
Knock out Punches: <the following are needed for salvation>
Enduring
Matthew 24: 13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
Confessing
Romans 10: 9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
Romans 10: 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Keep in Memory
I Cor 15: 1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
Baptism
I Peter 3: 20 Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.
21 The like figure whereunto [even] baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:
Patience and doing the will of God
Hebrew 10: 36 For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.
Giving Thanks <Will of God example>
1 Thesa 5:18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
Unbiblical Beliefs of the Baptist Faith (Debate Form) - Part 1 April 14, 2007

Belief: Once saved always saved.
Question: Do you accept that in order for you to be saved you ONLY need to believe?
Baptist Answer: Yes. <if he elaborates just show a Baptist track that shows the phrase “Believe only and you will be saved”>
Question: If someone believed and was saved, can his salvation be lost?
Baptist Answer: No <if he elaborates, just say that you acknowledged his answer “No” and go to the next question>
Question: If I can read a verse in the bible that there are people who received the word of God, people who believed but after a while they fell away… Will you accept that your belief is false?
Baptist Answer: No <Accuse him of not believing in the bible>
Baptist Answer: Read it first <Say that “I will read it but you must accept my challenge”, if he persist that read it first, then ask him “So you are not accepting my challenge? That if I can read…. “ Are you afraid of the possibility that your belief is wrong?”>
Baptist Answer: Read it don’t interpret it <I will read, I will not interpret it… do you accept the challenge?>
Baptist Answer: Yes I accept, read it and don’t interpret it. <Repeat again the challenge emphasis that there are people who believed but after a while fell away… if you can read a verse then the Baptist faith is false>.
Parable of the Sower. Give emphasis on the words that are bolded.
Luke 8:13 They on the rock [are they], which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away.
Knock out Verse:
